I’m the photographer behind La Luz Studios, and I’m a mom myself. I know the school portraits parents treasure most aren’t always the perfectly rehearsed smiles. Sometimes it’s the little smirk, the shy grin, or the expression that is so completely them.
My goal is to create beautiful portraits families genuinely love, while making Picture Day organized, relaxed, and easy for the schools that welcome me in.

Student privacy is incredibly important to me. Every family completes a registration and photography consent form before Picture Day. Parents separately choose whether or not La Luz Studios may share their child's portraits online, on social media, or in my portfolio. Marketing permission is completely optional and never affects a child's ability to participate. Finished portraits are delivered through private family galleries.
3. How is student privacy handled?
Your school receives a complimentary class composite for each participating class, plus complimentary individual digital portraits for staff. I also provide the parent registration link and Picture Day materials you need to share with families ahead of time.
2. What does our school receive?
No. A standard La Luz Studios Picture Day is hosted at no cost to your school. Families purchase their portraits directly through their private online galleries, so there is no photography fee for the school and no payments for your staff to collect.
1. Does it cost our school anything to host Picture Day?

A Signature Composite is a custom portrait created by combining your child's school photograph with La Luz Studios' exclusive vintage classroom backdrop. It gives families the option of a more artistic, storybook-style portrait in addition to their classic school images.
6. What is a Signature Composite Portrait?
Instead of rushing each child through one predetermined pose, I focus on capturing a small variety of genuine expressions and personality. Each child gets a little space to settle in, and families get to choose the portraits that actually feel like them.
5. What makes La Luz Picture Day different?
I offer several digital options at different price points so families can choose what works best for them. Families can purchase a single favourite, a small collection, the full gallery, or a Signature Collection with a custom composite portrait. Digital portraits currently start at $20.
4. How much do school portraits cost for families?

The schedule depends on the number and ages of students, so I create a Picture Day plan around your school rather than using a one-size-fits-all timeline. The goal is to keep the day moving efficiently while still giving each child enough time to relax and show a little personality.
9. How long does Picture Day take?
Absolutely. Sibling portraits can be included for children who attend the same school. We'll simply build them into the Picture Day schedule ahead of time so everything stays organized and runs smoothly.
8. Can siblings be photographed together?
No worries at all. There's no rush and no forced smiles here. If a child is shy, nervous, or just not feeling it at first, we can move on and try again near the end of Picture Day when possible. Big laughs, little smiles, serious faces, and everything in between are welcome.

Picture Day is planned as a one-day event, so families are encouraged to make sure registered children are present that day. Individual school reshoots are not automatically included.

12. What happens if a student is absent?
Very little. I handle parent registration, galleries, ordering, payments, and parent questions. On Picture Day, I mainly ask staff to help bring children to the photography area and provide a familiar face when little ones need some reassurance.
11. How much work is required from our staff?
I need a suitable indoor room with enough space for the photography setup and ideally minimal natural light. A room with few windows is perfect, but windows with blinds or coverings that allow the space to be darkened work well too.
